Communication with Reach and Impact

Meet Christopher Richmond
Filmmaker, motion graphics designer, and seasoned nonprofit and political communications director with proven track record attracting viewers, subscribers, earned media, and money for issues and causes.
Some of my visual work featuring my scriptwriting, shooting, editing and motion design. See all samples here.
Museum Media:
I created the motion graphics for The Two Georges exhibition at the Library of Congress. Positioned at the entrance to the show, these videos set the tone for a major national exhibition exploring the lives of George Washington and King George III.
For the National Museum of the Marine Corps exhibition titled No Better Friend, I edited this 2-minute video highlighting the humanitarian and disaster relief missions that the US Marines have conducted around the world and here in the United States.
When you create media for museums, showing the media in situ contextualizes and provides references for what the full visitor experience feels like. That’s why I created these “sizzle reels” — mini museum tours that show off all the media produced for one exhibit or one museum. Enjoy!
This spring I had the pleasure of joining the Hillmann & Carr team as we produced two pieces of media for the Library of Congress's special exhibition, Drawing Justice: The Art of Courtroom Illustration. For us, the challenge was to take existing archival footage and make it visually exciting. I did that by adding depth.
For the Fort York National Historic Site in Toronto, Ontario, I created motion graphics which stretch across three 1080p projections. Using the full canvas for my motion graphics palette, I was able to create several epic motion graphics sequences.
The Search for Justice is a 15-minute 3-screen documentary about the trials of the Oklahoma City bombers. I created a motion graphics framework for this piece, "building on" the layout of important newspaper pages, rotoscoping legal documents into archival footage, and creating a parallax or "2 1/2 D" effect for courtroom drawings.
Campaign Media:
I produced a series of social-first videos for Men4Choice, turning passive supporters into active allies in the reproductive freedom movement through storytelling and motion graphics.
I produced and edited a series of 30-second TV ads and helped lead the digital strategy behind SaferNewMexico.org, a statewide campaign supporting Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s public safety and behavioral health legislation. Our work generated over 5,100 constituent messages to lawmakers and played a key role in helping the bill package become law midway through the session.
I produced a three-part video series for Cindy Lerner’s 2024 campaign that exposed her opponent’s ties to developers and record on overdevelopment. These ads helped frame the race around ethics, environmental protection, and grassroots community leadership.
A Trilingual Digital Campaign
When Vote-By-Mail ballots were mailed out to voters in Miami-Dade County, we launched a digital ad campaign aimed at educating Democratic voters about some key points in using their Vote-By-Mail Ballots: 1) It is extremely important to sign the back of the envelope. We also explained voters’ options for returning their ballots: either through the mail as early as possible, or by using the drop boxes available at all Early Voting sites.
We launched a blanket digital campaign urging young people, aged 18-35 to register to vote before the October 5 deadline (which was later extended to October 6). Our ads directed people to www.registertovote.miami, where we asked for some data, and redirected them on to the Florida website to register to voter.
Nonprofit and Corporate Media:
I produced this video celebrating 10 years of marriage equality in Florida—capturing joy, reflection, and a renewed call to action for LGBTQ+ rights.
After the state of Florida purged 100% of Florida voters from the Vote-By-Mail rolls in 2022, I worked with two nonprofits to produce several videos as part of a five-figure digital ad buy urging Floridians to re-enroll in Vote-By-Mail.
In 2022, I partnered with Opportunity For All Floridians (OFAF) and Floridians for Honest Lending to produce vertical video ads for Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok that turned complex policy fights into engaging calls to action—and helped deliver real wins for Floridians.
I produced this video to promote legislation that we were advocating for at Floridians for Honest Lending. It also ran as a digital ad, urging people to sign on to our cause.
This video showcases Citrix's new learning subscription model: 24/7/365 access, hands-on labs, instructor office hours, and certification prep and exams. My role: soup to nuts: taking the narration script from the marketing team, storyboarding, sourcing visuals and editing it all together.
Sometimes you need a getaway. Editing these videos for the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection really drove that point home with beautiful destinations and gorgeous scenery that I reformatted for several different kinds of social media marketing.
Bio
A political strategist and nonprofit communications director
Since 2015, Christopher has specialized in communication for companies, individuals, and causes in Florida. As the communications director for a statewide Florida nonprofit, he spearheaded multiple omnichannel communications strategies to achieve legislative victories in a hostile political environment through strong coalition building, strategic earned media (over $750k since 2020), and omnichannel bilingual digital ad strategies that achieved measurable conversions (more than 100k in digital actions), and worked to apply pressure to key decision makers.
Growing Revenue Through Communications
In addition to strategic advocacy communications, Christopher’s communications skills have brought in millions in revenue through fundraising and grants. At Opportunity For All Floridians, he streamlined digital ad production and video production by bringing them in-house, and he was able to attract tens of thousands of additional grant dollars from coalition partners earmarked for digital ad programming. Christopher’s fundraising brought in over $3 million to a local party in 2020, more than $250k of which came through direct email appeals.
Successful Marketing videos
Companies like Citrix Systems ($3B annual revenue) and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection ($256M annual revenue) have hired Christopher to create marketing videos for them. He’s also produced videos for local candidates and parties which have been viewed millions of times. He’s also produced videos for philanthropic dinners and galas which have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A Trained Documentary Filmmaker
Christopher earned an MFA in Film & Electronic Communications from American University’s School of Communication. He has years of experience as a video editor, motion graphics artist, and graphic designer with Hillmann & Carr Inc. in Washington, DC, working with over 25 museum clients, bringing in over $13 million in contracts. His work includes educational media and interactive experiences for museums and cultural institutions, working with clients such as the Smithsonian Institution (30 million annual visitors), the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum (1.6 million visitors since 2001) and the Library of Congress (1.9 million visitors annually).

There was a whopping 54% voter participation in the Village of Pinecrest’s off-year local special election. Vote-by-mail made the difference, says the vice mayor of this South Florida town.
After all Florida voters’ Vote-by-Mail requests were canceled in 2022, advocacy groups are sounding the alarm about the harm to “a key piece of Florida’s democracy.
Florida’s vote-by-mail system is a critical piece of the state’s free and fair elections, enabling millions of Floridians to participate in the democratic process. Access to vote-by-mail is particularly important for voters with disabilities, the majority of whom vote by mail due to transportation and other access barriers. However, recent changes to the vote-by-mail request system proposed by Secretary of State, Cord Byrd, could create significant barriers for people with disabilities, limiting their access to the ballot box, and making Florida’s elections less fair and less free.
In 2022, as Communications Director of Floridians for Honest Lending, I helped organize several press conferences with elected officials to publicize available relief funds for homeowners struggling to pay their mortgages from the American Rescue Plan. These press conferences achieved thousands of dollars in earned media.
