Another electric bill hike in Florida?
On September 2, Florida's largest electric utility monopolies, FPL, Duke Energy and Tampa Electric, filed petitions with the Florida Public Service Commission to increase electric rates in 2023. If the Public Service Commission approves these rates, your electric bill could go up — in some cases by as much as 15% per month.
🚨 BREAKING: Puppy Mill Law moved to Gov. DeSantis
Can you write an email to Gov. DeSantis to veto this cruel new law? Gov. DeSantis has stood up to his own legislature and vetoed bad bills this year, and he is seriously considering a veto on this one. He needs to hear from all of us now.
We delivered over 1,300 signatures to stop puppy mills
Thanks to you, we delivered a petition with over 1,300 signatures to Governor DeSantis asking him to veto SB 620, the Puppy Mill Law.

The Miami-Dade Bar and Floridians for Honest Lending hold seminar for those at risk of losing their homes
MIAMI- Financial institutions tapped the brakes on foreclosures in 2020 and most of 2021, as a federal moratorium gave the millions of homeowners who lost a job due to Covid-19 some financial breathing room. Many took the route of pursuing loan modifications, in a process that was abused by some banks even during the worst of the crisis.
Don't Miss the Foreclosure Avoidance Seminar on April 7
Are you — or someone you know — looking to file a loan modification, but are concerned the bank is taking advantage of you? We’re here to help!

This morning, in a 24-15 vote, the Florida Senate passed HB 741, the highly controversial and widely criticized legislation aiming to gut rooftop solar net metering in Florida. Reflecting on what we did in 2021
We hope you’ve had a great holiday season and that you’re able to start the New Year with health and happiness. As we reflect on all that we have done together, I wanted to highlight all the good that we’ve done with your help.
Tallahassee is Overruling Our Local Governments in Florida
There’s a crisis threatening our communities all over Florida. Florida state legislators filed 42 bills in the 2021 legislative session to overrule local city and county ordinances. This "Tallahassee Takeover" affects everything from environmental ordinances designed to keep Florida’s water and air clean to election laws that keep dark money out of local politics.

I wrote what I called the “last newsletter before Election Day” on October 29, 2020 (it was not actually the last newsletter before Election Day).
October 15 Newsletter: 12 Days To Go
With 12 days until Election Day, I wrote this newsletter highlighting the many ways volunteers could get involved with the Miami-Dade Democratic Party.
Voting has begun — see our Democratic voter guide
I wrote this email newsletter to promote our slate cards which we were distributing both in print and digitally.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Last night, we lost a hero. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a trailblazer, a role model to women and men in the legal profession, and the consummate American changemaker.
Many tributes to this giant poured in yesterday and will continue today and through week. While many marvel at what she accomplished during her life, many despair over what her loss portends for our future.
We must not despair. I woke up this morning more determined than ever to defend her legacy, and to help protect her dying wish "that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."
