It's time to check that your voter registration is up-to-date. And it's really easy to do (and only takes 1 minute⏱):

On September 2, Florida's largest electric utility monopolies, FPL, Duke Energy and Tampa Electric, filed petitions with the Florida Public Service Commission to increase electric rates in 2023. If the Public Service Commission approves these rates, your electric bill could go up — in some cases by as much as 15% per month.

Can you write an email to Gov. DeSantis to veto this cruel new law? Gov. DeSantis has stood up to his own legislature and vetoed bad bills this year, and he is seriously considering a veto on this one. He needs to hear from all of us now.

Thanks to you, we delivered a petition with over 1,300 signatures to Governor DeSantis asking him to veto SB 620, the Puppy Mill Law.

This morning, Floridians For Honest Lending released a series of videos with our partners at FAIR, the Federal Association For Insurance Reform, to educate the public about the property insurance crisis and to call for a consumer-focused approach to stabilizing the property insurance market in Florida.

The American Rescue Plan includes funding for homeowners who are struggling to pay their mortgage, their utility bills, their property insurance or other qualifying expenses. The law prioritizes funds for homeowners who have experienced the greatest hardships.

This morning, in a 24-15 vote, the Florida Senate passed HB 741, the highly controversial and widely criticized legislation aiming to gut rooftop solar net metering in Florida. The Florida House also passed this bill last week; now the legislation will head to Governor Ron DeSantis for signature or veto.

This week marked the beginning of the 2022 Florida legislative session, and we wanted to share some very exciting news with you. Two Florida lawmakers have introduced a bill in the House and the Senate to protect homeowners from the worst abuses of the mortgage and servicing industry.

There’s a crisis threatening our communities all over Florida. Florida state legislators filed 42 bills in the 2021 legislative session to overrule local city and county ordinances. This "Tallahassee Takeover" affects everything from environmental ordinances designed to keep Florida’s water and air clean to election laws that keep dark money out of local politics.

On Tuesday, we held a special Democratic Executive Committee meeting to make endorsements in key races being held this August 18. We’re now just days away from ballots being mailed for the August election, and weeks away from the start of early voting. Read on to see our endorsements.

The beginning of May marks several milestones. We have 108 days until our August Primary when we can elect a Democratic Mayor of Miami-Dade for the first time in 16 years.

And we have 185 days until November 3, when we defeat Trump and send a new crop of Democrats to Tallahassee to hold Governor DeSantis accountable for the mess Florida is in.
